Biodiesel Truck Transports Capitol Christmas Tree (Text Version)
This is a text version of the video segment Biodiesel Truck Transports Capitol Christmas Tree, which aired on Dec. 31, 2009.
JOHN DAVIS: Our success story of the week hits a yuletide note in our nation's capital, by way of Arizona.
This year's Capitol Christmas Tree, an 85-foot blue spruce, is America's gift from the Grand Canyon State, and comes to us from the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest.
To promote the use of clean, renewable fuels, the tree was transported across the country on a biodiesel-fueled big rig.
Once anchored in the ground, the tree will be decorated with more than 5,000 ornaments handmade by Arizona residents and strung with energy-efficient LED light strands.
A tradition since 1964, the Capitol Christmas Tree now stands as a shining beacon of hope, thanksgiving, and energy independence for us all.
