Extended Test Drives Spur Electric Vehicle Adoption (Text Version)

This is a text version of the video segment Extended Test Drives Spur Electric Vehicle Adoption, which aired on Nov. 26, 2024.

ALICIA COX: Yellowstone-Teton Clean Cities is a U.S. Department of Energy-designated coalition in the Clean Cities and Communities partnership to advance clean transportation nationwide. At Yellowstone-Teton Clean Cities, we are working to get more electric vehicles on the road by providing fun learning opportunities for drivers. We created a program called EV Experience so people can borrow an EV for three days. This extended test drive helps them figure out not just how an EV drives but how it fits into their lives. For 90% of the people who participated in the program, it was their first time driving an EV. And 15 participants ended up buying their own electric vehicle. Our coalition serves a rural area and people here might be more hesitant to pick an EV. So being able to take the vehicle home and really experience it made a huge difference for encouraging EV adoption.
