Zero-Emission Airport Shuttle Requirement

By December 31, 2035, airport shuttle fleets that serve 13 regulated California airports must transition to 100% zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs). Zero-emission shuttle technologies include battery-electric or fuel cell electric technologies. Starting in 2022, shuttle fleets must report the details of their vehicles to the California Air Resources Board (CARB). Airport shuttle fleets must meet a phase-in schedule requiring at least 33% of shuttles to be zero emission by December 31, 2027, 66% by December 31, 2031, and 100% by December 31, 2035.
