Alternative Fuel Vehicle (AFV) and Refueling Infrastructure Tax Credit

The Commonwealth of Virginia provides individuals, private entities, and corporations a state tax credit equal to 10% of the amount allowed as a federal tax deduction for clean-fuel vehicles and related refueling property (under Section 179A of the Internal Revenue Code). The tax credit was amended in 1994 to specify that it is for the purchase of clean fuel vehicles that are principally garaged in Virginia and for certain refueling property placed in service in Virginia.
