Local Air District Motor Vehicle Fee Authorization

The Motor Vehicle Registration Fee Program (Program, also known as the AB 2766 program) authorizes local air pollution control districts and air quality management districts to assess a motor vehicle registration fee. The revenues from these fees must be used solely to reduce air pollution from motor vehicles and for related planning, monitoring, and enforcement. Eligible projects implemented by local air districts often include the purchase of alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) and the development of alternative fueling infrastructure.

For more information, including grant funding and distribution, you may contact you local air districts or see the Program website for more information about available grant funding and distribution information.
