Zero-Emission Heavy-Duty Truck Insurance Data Reporting
California requires the California Department of Insurance (CDI), in consultation with the California Air Resources Board (CARB), to develop a strategy to address gaps in insurance coverage and affordability for medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission and advanced technology truck fleets. CDI must collect specified data on availability, coverage, and losses for these trucks to inform the strategy and identify barriers to insurance market participation. Using these collected data, CDI must also create a consumer-focused online information resource tool to help the public readily find coverage limits, fleet size specifications, and insurance options for battery-electric, hydrogen, and other zero-emission trucks.
