Vehicle and Engine Data Collection Methods
To maintain the Alternative Fuel and Advanced Vehicle Search tool, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) gathers information about alternative fueled and advanced vehicles, engines, and hybrid/conversion systems from specifications posted on websites of original equipment manufacturers, as well as information provided by vendor and OEM representatives. The vehicles and their specifications are updated as new models are released and/or changed. Fuel economy figures come from the U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). NREL conducts a comprehensive update of this database each fall based on new model year vehicles.
- Vehicles listed are complete vehicles from the OEM.
- Engines and power sources and hybrid/conversion systems are available separately for vehicle integration. Check the manufacturer for compatibility.
Caution: The Alternative Fuels Data Center recommends users check with their local dealers or the manufacturer for more specific vehicle information before making purchasing decisions.
