Licensing of Low-Speed-Vehicle Dealerships

Effective July 1, 2025, the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles may issue a new car dealer license to entities that, before that date, sold new electric low-speed vehicles under the manufacturer’s or importer’s contract (and may also sell or repair used electric low-speed vehicles), subject to relevant state laws. Licenses require a commissioner’s form, a $340 fee, biennial renewal, and $100 late fee, and cannot be renewed if expired by more than 45 days. Licenses are nontransferable and must be revoked and surrendered upon sale or transfer.
