Retail Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger Standards

The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment director of the Division of Oil and Public Safety (DOPS) must adopt rules for EV charging by July 1, 2026. The rules must set minimum standards for:

  • Specifications and tolerances for retail EV charging equipment; and
  • Methods of retail sale at publicly accessible EV chargers.

The rules must promote consistency in publicly accessible EV chargers and substantially conform to generally accepted EV charging safety standards.
