Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station Rebates

Hawaii Energy is a third-party provider of the state’s EV charging station rebate program. Rebate amounts vary by charger type. Reimbursement is available, not to exceed the full project cost, up to the following amounts:

Level 2 (one port) $2,000 $1,300
Level 2 (two ports) $4,500 $3,000
Direct-current fast charging $35,000 $28,000


Additional rebate amounts are available for qualifying affordable housing properties serving families making no more than 100% of the area median income:

  • $5,000 bonus per Level 2 EV charging station for existing affordable housing developments.
  • $1,500 bonus per Level 2 EV charging station for new affordable housing developments.

Rebates are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to the availability of state funds. Charging stations that serve a single person, such as reserved parking stalls or single-family residences, are not eligible. Additional terms and conditions apply.
