Consumption of Natural Gas in the United States
Notes: Field and Processing: Natural gas used in well, field, and lease operations (such as gas used in drilling operations, heaters, dehydrators, and field compressors), or as fuel in gas processing plants.
This chart shows the breakdown of natural gas consumption in the United States. Only 0.18% of the natural gas consumed in 2022 was used to power vehicles. This indicates that the compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) motor fuels market has very little influence over the larger natural gas specifications, operations, and market.
