This graph shows imported renewable diesel fuel volumes. Renewable diesel meets the same fuel quality specification as petroleum diesel (ASTM D975) and can be used in existing diesel engines and refueling infrastructure without the need for any upfits or retrofits. The majority of imported renewable diesel fuel is from Neste's facility in Singapore. Domestic production increased significantly in 2022, which may have impacted imports. The fuel is used primarily in California because of economic benefits provided under the Low Carbon Fuel Standard.
