Notes: Data for the United States and Canada include average excise taxes at the state/province level.
This chart shows the fuel taxes on gasoline and diesel in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries. The United Kingdom, Switzerland and the United States are the only countries with higher taxes for diesel than gasoline. In general, European countries tend to tax petroleum fuels at the highest level globally.
